Easter is right around the corner and that means it’s time to reflect on the past 40 days. Here in the office, a few people look back on the past couple months and how they did with trying to better themselves.
If you missed the Facebook Live that detailed this challenge, watch it HERE!
My goal for the 40-day challenge was to drink more water. I wasn’t able to hit eight glasses of water every day, but I did significantly increase my water intake. By drinking more water, I did notice my skin feeling more hydrated, and there was a slight increase in my energy levels. A coworker recommended adding fruit to my water which was more enjoyable for me!
I said that I would meditate for at least 5 minutes a day for the last 40 days and…well, I failed! I started strong in the challenge, but then ended up finding it difficult to find a completely quiet place in my house to meditate. Which, actually just added to my stress levels instead of helped them! I do, however, think that just being mindful of the idea of meditating stayed with me all day long. For instance, when I felt stressed during the day, I would focus on my breathing for a few seconds, which would help tremendously in those situations. Even if it’s something you don’t fully commit to, I think just practicing the art of focusing on your breathing is a very helpful tip for anyone to try!
I was hoping that spring starting up would really help me get going on the goal of walking my dog 3-4 times a week. Sadly, I found that motivation after a work day and a long commute home was at an all time low. But, as the days went on (probably like 2 weeks in) I realized that the real reason I wanted to do this was for my dog and to be able to get him moving, since the poor guy hangs out at home all day while I’m gone. I’ve gotten substantially better with hitting the 3 days a week goal, but if the week got busy, I made sure to take an extra long walk or go for a hike on the weekends. I plan to continue this and I think Frank (my dog) approves of the plan!
