Unconventional Skincare Items You Need to Try

Spending hundreds of dollars on expensive skincare products doesn’t necessarily guarantee they will help or are even good for your skin. A lot of these products  include natural ingredients that are beneficial for your skin, but are beneficial standing on their own–which will have you spending way less then buying brand names.

The chameleon plant

Known for its antibacterial, antiviral, antihistamine, and antioxidant properties, it’s safe to say this plant is an all around health booster. It can be found as an ingredient in a lot of expensive skincare products. While common in Asia, this plant can still be found in the US, but you don’t typically see in your local drugstore. It is available in pill form, and in drops on online websites, such as Amazon.

Yarrow

This plant is filled with vitamin E, so, if you have any wounds or scarring on your face, this plant can help reduce the appearance of scarring. Yarrow drops in its purest form are available for under $20. Dilute with water before using on your face, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Raspberry leaf tea

These leaves have extremely high levels of vitamins E and C, which can help alleviate any skin inflammation. The tea can be a delicious drink, or placed over your eyes, which can be especially useful during allergy season.

Coconut oil

This oil can be used  as a makeup remover and is much cheaper (and lasts longer) than your typical makeup wipes. It has natural anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, and is a great natural moisturizer for your skin.

Apple cider vinegar

This can be used as a toner before you go to sleep. After you wash your face and your pores are clean and open, apply the apple cider toner. Toner will help fight bacteria and oils that are produced during your sleep.

Avocado

If you have some left over and you don’t plan on eating it, mash into a paste, and apply to your face as a mask! It is super soothing for dry skin, and an awesome way to cool down sunburn. It works similarly to aloe, leaving your face hydrated and soft.

Salt water

Ever notice how nice your skin is when you go swimming at the beach? It is filled with vitamins that tend to fight bacteria and promote healing. You can make your own salt water mix at home to cleanse your face after a long day at work.

By using natural ingredients, you are not running the risk of exposing your face to harmful chemicals and additives in expensive, name brand products. Instead, you are saving money and providing your skin with the natural vitamins it needs!
