Gearing Up for School Made Easy
Going back to school may look a little different this year, but you can still prep your kids for a great year ahead by following these tips!
Create a calendar.
While it seems like a no-brainer, this is something that can be easily forgotten about in the back-to-school shuffle. Creating a color coded calendar is an easy way to keep things like school, chores, and activities organized. Or take it the extra mile and organize school-related items into its own calendar altogether.
Start meal prepping.
If you don’t already, meal prepping is a great way to make sure one responsibility—making lunch or dinner—is taken care of. MyPlate is a good resource to bookmark so you can ensure your little ones are getting the nutrition they need for every meal. Try to include fruits, grains, veggies, protein, and dairy throughout their day.
Know before you go.
Some people love back-to-school shopping, while others … not so much. No matter which group you fall into, it always helps to make a detailed list of the things you need before the first day of school. Even if your classroom is virtual this year, it will help your kids feel more at ease and prepared.
Craft a morning routine.
With kids adjusting to a virtual classroom, it now requires a bit more preparation in the morning. Between getting yourself and the children ready, it’s paramount to try and create a structured morning routine that includes things like eating breakfast, getting everyone ready and dressed well before class starts, and making to-do lists to ensure everyone stays on track throughout the day.
Have a cleaning day.
Prior to the first week of school, go through your home with your kids and clean each room. You’ll feel that much better about the new school year ahead knowing your space is spick-and-span. And yes—that includes wiping down the actual cleaning supplies as well.
