Spice Up Your Morning Oatmeal
If you’re tired of the same old bowl of oatmeal day in and day out, try switching things up by getting more creative with your toppings!
Frozen blueberries, maple syrup, pecans
There’s something about frozen blueberries on a hot bowl of oatmeal that makes for a delicious spoonful. Add some pecans for a crunch and maple syrup for sweetness.
Bananas and coconut
If you want to feel like you’re on a vacation on an island somewhere instead of stuck inside, coconuts and bananas might just do the trick.
Dried cranberries and a squeeze of lemon or orange
For a pop of vitamin C and some antioxidants, add citrus and dried cranberries to your oatmeal, and kickstart your morning off right.
Cheddar cheese and fried egg
Who says you can’t combine multiple breakfast options into one hearty bowl? Don’t fully fry the egg so the yolk emulsifies into the oats for a creamy concoction!
Caramelized apples and maple syrup
If you woke up especially early, consider caramelizing apples to put on your oatmeal. Add a touch of maple syrup for some extra sweetness.
Agave nectar and berries
Too much sugar could completely ruin your warm bowl of oats, which is why agave nectar can be a great alternative. Pair with berries of your choice and you’ve got a new favorite.
Sweet potatoes, egg, and feta
Maybe you woke up a little late and it’s that awkward time between breakfast and lunch. Turn your breakfast bowl of oats into a grain bowl with these additions.
Brown sugar, toasted nuts, strawberries
Sugar and fruit are tried-and-true toppings for oatmeal, but adding a handful of toasted nuts can give the breakfast some flair. (Try hazelnuts or almonds!)
Whipped bananas
If your go-to breakfast is oatmeal, chances are, you’ve used bananas as a topping many times. But, consider whipping them and adding them in as you cook your oats for a satisfying bite.
