Cauliflower is a low-calorie vegetable that’s high in benefits. This super vegetable is not only good for you, but it is also good for your budget. It can be consumed cooked or raw and is able to blend in well with a variety of dishes. Here’s why you should consider adding more cauliflower into your diet.

It contains almost every vitamin and mineral you need

Our bodies need vitamins and minerals to promote healthy organ function and for the production of proteins. There are two types of vitamins: fat soluble and water soluble. Cauliflower has both types of vitamins. The main vitamins found in cauliflower are C, K, and B6. In addition, minerals balance water in the body and improve energy and mood. Minerals found in cauliflower are; folate, pantothenic acid, potassium, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus. While a few vitamins and minerals are missing to complete a healthy diet, Cauliflower has a large variety of hard to obtain nutrients that help maintain a balanced diet.

It’s a low carb alternative to processed grains

With recent diet trends, such as the keto diet, consumers are searching for low carb alternatives any place they can. Many have turned to cauliflower instead of their usual serving of rice and other carb–rich grains. Cauliflower has a bland taste that is easily manipulated to take on the taste of other foods, making it an easy switch for most people looking to reduce their carb intake.

It’s packed with antioxidants

Antioxidants are what protect cells against harmful bacteria and inflammation. If you’re prone to getting sick easily, consider increasing your antioxidant intake. Cauliflower is rich in antioxidants. It’s high in glucosinolates and isothiocyanates, two groups of antioxidants that slow the growth of cancer cells. As previously mentioned, cauliflower is rich in vitamin C which boosts the immune system and reduces the risk of heart disease.

It aids in weight loss

With the high amount of fiber and low amount of carbs in cauliflower, it is a great food to assist in weight loss. Fiber makes you feel fuller for longer, reducing the urge to snack.

Cauliflower is an affordable, high benefit vegetable that is trending for good reason.
