California in general has a strong job market, but San Francisco remains one of the state’s best cities for job hunters. Average salary is around $69,000, and technology (unsurprisingly) is one of their biggest industries. Consider the Bay Area for your job search this year if you’re in the on the lookout for a new gig.

Ranked the third best city in the US for the job market, consider Boston for your next move. The biotech and biomedical fields are particularly hot right now and are only continuing to get increasingly popular as the year goes on. Salary growth has also been on a steady incline in this New England city, making it the place to job hunt in 2018.

San Jose, CA

The unemployment rate in San Jose is the same as San Francisco (3.3%), but the average salary is higher, making this California city the top-rated place in the country for job hunters right now. With some of the biggest employers, Silicon Valley will remain a contender for job seekers nationwide.

Minneapolis, MN

The only Midwest city to break into the top 10 (according to CNBC) was Minneapolis. This may have a thing or two to do with Target headquarters being here, as well as global science company 3M. If you’re looking to call Midwest home, consider Minneapolis for your career change.

Miami, FL

As the number two city in terms of work-life balance and number one in terms of job security, it’s safe to say that Miami is one of the best cities for finding a new job.

Washington DC

D.C. rounds out the list of the top 10 cities for job seekers. In 2017, this politics-heavy city didn’t make the top 25, so its increased in terms of job favorability and job security to make the top 10 in 2018.
