Mindful Questions to Ask Yourself at Work

It’s important to be task driven at work, but your mental and physical well-being should never suffer because of your daily tasks. Here are some questions worth asking yourself during a work day.

How are you fueling your body?

A work day can be strenuous, and often times we intake soda, coffee, and energy drinks to “beat” the exhausted feeling that comes from having a full-time job. Eventually, this processed sugar and excess caffeine intake is going to catch up with you mentally and physically. If you do choose to drink coffee, try black coffee or simply add milk instead of sugar. You can also try eating a hearty amount of fruit in the morning, that way you are taking in natural sugars over processed sugars.

Are you moving?

Staying in one seated position is really bad for your health. When your blood isn’t circulating enough, you are more susceptible to blood clots. Being active and getting your blood pumping can decrease that risk. Try doing small workouts at your desk or going for a walk on breaks.

Are you drinking enough water?

When you’re busy, you aren’t really paying attention to what your body needs. I know I hardly finish one full water bottle during my work day (which I am actively trying to change). Invest in a water bottle that you can keep at your desk and set reminders on your computer if you have trouble remembering to stay well-hydrated.

Are you taking breaks?

If the weather is decent, try spending your lunch break or even just taking a phone call outside. Being cooped up in the same space all day is not good for your well-being. Stepping away from your work will improve productivity when you do sit back at your desk.

Are you cleaning your workspace?

We spend a lot of time in our workplace. Don’t forget to disinfect your work space from time to time, just as you would at home. Set a certain day where you are able to take a few minutes to tidy up. It’s important to be mindful of your well-being even with a busy work schedule. The better you take care of yourself, the more energy and productivity you will have when it comes to your daily tasks.

Don’t forget to ask yourself these questions throughout your workday to stay mindful of your overall wellness.
