The Skin Care Tips You Need This Winter

The air is drier and the winds are colder, and your skin is suffering because of it. Even with virtually unproblematic skin, it can be difficult to manage come winter. These tips are sure to put you back on track so your skin stays soft and refreshed even in the harshest weather.

Wash your face with cold or lukewarm water

It’s easier in the summer to wake up and wash your face with cold water, when you can already feel the strength of the summer sun, but it’s a bit harder during the winter season. Strive to not wash your face, and hands for that matter, with extremely hot water. This could dry your skin out even further.

Switch up your products

Chances are, your summer products are different from your colder weather products. Be sure to switch them out this time of year. If you use the same products year-round, consider switching it up when the first sign of frost hits the ground. You want to use face creams and washes that replenish the skin. Don’t forget to moisturize throughout the day!

Keep it simple

This is really a tip for any season, but is especially true in the winter season when skin becomes more susceptible to irritability. Stick to cleansers with less ingredients and those that are meant for sensitive skin.

Choose a cream instead of a lotion

The biggest difference between creams and lotions is the thickness. In colder weather, you want to apply something to your skin that has more density. Creams (fragrance-free) are your best bet for combating the colder months.

Cut back on exfoliating

Already, you shouldn’t be exfoliating too often, but especially during winter, cut back on this step in your skincare routine. This could cause your skin to dry out faster and irritate problem areas. Stick to once a week or less for the best results.

Heed these skin-care tips this season to have the best skin possible come spring!
