It’s Time for a Mid-Year Check-In

Somehow, we are almost halfway through the year. Whatever resolutions you made at the beginning of January may have fizzled out by now or maybe just need a few adjustments. It’s never too late to make improvements to your day-to-day life! Here a few ways to implement a little extra wellness into all aspects of your lifestyle.

Find the best podcast

Podcasting has taken center stage as a means of informing the public, and personally, I love it. It makes learning information conversational, engaging, and accessible. Take a minute to find one or two podcasts that are tailored to your interests and start tuning in while you cook, clean, or drive. You’ll learn something new by listening to something that peaks your interest.

Add more decor

Spruce up your home by changing or adding to your current style. New bedding, curtains, wall art—whatever you think could benefit from some change. Try out a few DIY projects for your home and get crafty!

In with the old or new

If you set the fairly common resolution to run outside or start going to the gym more, don’t give up! Try going with a friend to keep you a little more motivated. If you know running really isn’t for you, try something new that peaks your interest or something old you have been meaning to pick back up. Don’t force yourself into a fitness goal that makes you unhappy, instead, find a way to enjoy your workout and accomplish your goal. You don’t have to compromise one for the other.

Spend more time outside

Make a point of spending time outdoors. This may be easier to accomplish now that the warmer months have rolled around. When you have the chance to eat, read, or exercise outside, take it! Spending time outdoors greatly benefits your mental and physical well-being.

Stretch it out

This has truly changed my morning routine. I started doing yoga twice a week before I start my day and simply stretching for an hour before a day of work has definitely made me feel better physically and increased my productivity. This is coming from someone who has despised stretching for most of her life due to an unfortunate lack of natural flexibility but, like anything, a little practice and determination has me stretching more often than not nowadays.

Make time for self-care

People tend to make the excuse that there aren’t enough hours in the day (myself included), but I’ve started to train myself to go to sleep and wake up just a little earlier so that I can spend more time in the morning cooking breakfast and reading before work. Take small steps to allot yourself the time you need to do what makes you happy and healthy.

Make sure to always check in and ensure your well-being is prioritized by utilizing these tips for living a well-rounded life!
